"My relationship with Alastair was much more than a series of sittings, although I could have left it as that had I wanted. He offered to take me with him as a full participant on the creative journey. I very willingly accepted. It led to a fascinating discussion about how I wanted my role in the University to be represented, how far it should convey a sense of the University’s values and my own, as well as how it would be seen against the previous portraiture that hangs in the ceremonial hall.
The year in question was very busy but I did not find the process difficult to fit in with my other commitments. I was thrilled with the finished portrait and so was the University"
