2 - Sittings
Initially
the painting is drawn up from the working rough drawing

If
sittings are to be set in busy surroundings, a work place for
instance, I like the subject to be able to tend to any potential
interruptions. Sittings themselves usually last between 1 to 2
hours but can go on indefinitely according to the sitters ability.
A relaxed,
comfortable sitter makes a better subject which is reflected in
the final painting. Often, as I can only paint one part of a person
at a time, it is possible for sitters to continue to attend to
the day to day. I do not insist that people keep rigidly still,
just the part that Iím painting.
Time
between sittings back at the studio is very important to me.
